Sometimes after some intense travels, you just need some luxury R&R… What better place than Manathai Resort in Koh Samui, Thailand.

Here’s a review of our stay at the beautiful Manathai Koh Samui Resort:

CHECK IN:

As soon as our shuttle pulled up to the resort entrance, two staff members came to greet us and help with our bags. We were shown to the check in desk where we were offered cold face cloths (much needed in that heat) and flower infused iced tea.

Once checked in, we were taken to our room where on the way, we were shown the different areas of the resort. The service here upon our arrival seriously was the best I have ever come across. The staff were very helpful and attentive.

THE ROOM:

I’ve never walked into a hotel room where the room is exactly as pictured on the website. Usually the pictures are much nicer. Not in this case. Granted the resort was newly opened, so everything was still in great condition. The design of the room was gorgeous, with a blue, white, and dark wood palette.

As an unexpected surprise there was a plate of local fruits and sweets on the table for us as well as the usual coffee and tea amenities.

We had the Deluxe Balcony Room. It was a comfortable size for two and the bed was amazing!

FACILITIES:

With this being a new hotel, the facilities were in fantastic condition. 

Gym:

The gym is a decent size. Many times I was the only one in there. They had the basic gym equipment and offered water and towels. There was also a separate exercise room where you could easily do online workout classes etc.

Pools:

The pools are a major selling point. There are two pools in Manathai Koh Samui. The main one is across the road from the resort entrance and overlooks the beach. You can lie by the pool and sip on pina coladas. Or you can relax in the restaurant and enjoy the views.

Restaurants: Manathai provided us with breakfast during our stay at their Colours Restaurant. These breakfasts were the most memorable still after 2 years of traveling! Each morning they made different blends of healthy juice shots (sadly we didn’t get any photos!). And there’s a good mix of hot and cold breakfasts, plus made to order omelettes.

Within the Manathai complex itself, there are other restaurants and bars, so you never need to go too far.

LOCATION:

Manathai Koh Samui is located in the quiet area of Lamai. It’s on the eastern side of the island a little further south than the popular area of Chaweng.

It’s right on the beach with awesome looking boats docked up. And you can walk along the beach to other places.

There’s a small restaurant right next door where we ate at everyday. The prices there are much cheaper than the resort restaurants and the food is absolutely amazing. For 80 baht you can get a delicious meal.

If you hire a scooter, a short 10 minute drive along the coast will take you to some amazing outlooks over the water. Otherwise a 15-20 minute stroll in the opposite direction can take you to the Lamai town centre where there’s shopping, restaurants, and bars.

Pros:

• Quiet area
• Beautiful rooms
• Great staff
• Top notch breakfast
• Awesome pool
• Frangipani trees EVERYWHERE!

Cons:

• Long walk into Lamai town (trade-off for quiet area I guess)
